“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” - Carl Rogers
When the world consistently demands more from us, the opportunity to pause and reflect can feel like a rare gift, rather than a right. I believe therapy can be a place where you can leave the expectations and demands of the world at the door to focus on redefining what life, joy, and connection mean to you. Rather than seeing therapy as a means to be fixed, I foster a therapeutic space where together we can explore what living as your authentic self could look like.
I practice knowing that you are the expert in your lived experiences; my role is not to prescribe, but to walk alongside you on your journey. I utilize person-centered and relational frameworks such as Liberation psychology, Self psychology, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). This means I focus on your innate strengths and resilience as well as how experiences in the therapy room extend to your relationships outside of it. I apply a trauma-informed, feminist, and disability justice lens to my work, understanding that our experiences exist in the context of oppressive and disenfranchising systems that cannot be ignored.
As a queer and neurodivergent therapist, I believe in the value of a therapeutic space where both you and I can show up as our true selves. I am passionate about working with transgender and gender expansive, aromantic and asexual, and lesbian, bisexual, and gay clients, as well as neurodivergent individuals, whether you be self-diagnosed or have a formal diagnosis. From my previous work in hospital and community mental health settings I have gained experience supporting clients with relationship issues, identity exploration, and gender dysphoria, as well as substance use concerns, complex and acute trauma, OCD, grief, and depression. I greatly value my year of training at Center on Halsted providing queer competent counseling that additionally affirms the experiences of kink practitioners, sex workers, and those in polyamorous/ENM relationships.
If you’re interested in starting therapy or seeing if I might be a good fit for you, please reach out and I would be honored to connect.
