Our lived experience is a complex web of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that shape how we see ourselves and relate to the world around us. During challenging times, we often look to our family, friends, and communities for clues on how to manage. However, those examples don’t always fit our individual needs, and that mismatch can leave us feeling confused, lonely, and overwhelmed. I believe therapy should be an affirming space where we can explore the depths of your experience to discover the keys that unlock stability and self-actualization, on your terms.
When it comes to your life – past, present, and future – I believe you are the expert. You possess deep knowledge of your identity, values, desires, strengths, challenges, and how they interact as you move through the world. I will serve as a mirror, reflecting these pieces of yourself, supporting you in processing feelings or questions that may arise, and modeling acceptance of your whole self. Through cultivating honest dialogue, mindful reflection, and self-compassion, we can develop tools to help you navigate life’s obstacles in a way that is authentic to you.
My clinical experience includes providing individual therapy to high school students and university student-athletes of different backgrounds and identities. I often worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and life transitions. I engage all clients with a culturally affirming, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach. As a Black man, I am passionate about supporting individuals from marginalized communities who must navigate systemically oppressive structures that disproportionately impact their mental health.
Our lived experience is a complex web – one that can easily get tangled up. Your web is intricate and unique, but you don’t have to face the challenge alone. If something here resonates with you and you are interested in working with me, I encourage you to reach out for us to discuss whether I would be the right fit for you.
