We can often feel isolated, confused, and helpless when we struggle to make meaningful relationships, find direction in life, or meet expectations set upon us by others. I strive to create a meaningful therapeutic relationship that allows you to feel safe, seen, and heard. In our sessions, this often looks like a mix of joking and laughter, listening and giving you space, and challenging you to discover new ways to navigate life challenges. As a liberational, social-justice oriented psychology fellow, I aim to work beyond the therapy room as an advocate for you as part of my own lifelong learning.

As a pansexual, genderqueer, and religious minority therapist, I have a passion for supporting clients who have similarly felt “othered” for their own intersecting identities. I identify as an integrationist in my therapy style, where I tailor my approach to your concerns in a way that fits your individual needs. I use a person-centered, relational, and multicultural approach grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I also regularly integrate other approaches such as internal family systems (IFS) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and others based on what you are experiencing.

Prior to my doctorate, I worked as a risk-reduction counselor for a nonprofit STI testing center, where I discovered my passion for caring for those historically underserved in the LGBTQ+ community. Accordingly, I view my six years of training in counseling psychology as a means to uplift those who are historically underserved. Although I have worked in many settings such as community counseling and outpatient hospitals, I found a love for serving young adults in university counseling in both health sciences and general areas of study. I feel honored to help people at a crossroads of their own identity exploration.

If you also find yourself wanting to explore yourself and your values, I would love the opportunity to connect with you.

I look forward to getting to know you and answering any further questions you may have about me, and am excited to see if we are a good fit for one another!

Mr. Germain will begin seeing clients in August 2026
