As a therapist, I often describe my approach as integrative, using different techniques and perspectives to address each individual's unique needs. I also operate using an approach from improvisational theater known as “Yes,…And…” The "Yes" means I offer unconditional nonjudgment, acceptance, and support. My job is to listen and honor your experience. The "And" symbolizes that, while listening certainly goes a long way, it is not the only part of therapy. You and I will work as a team to address your personal needs and concerns. Therapy is a space for us to build something together.
Yet, I do not wield a hammer or a magic wand. It is beyond my power to "fix" anyone or any issue. But, I can stand alongside you as you begin and explore the therapeutic process. I can help build insight into your past and present. Awareness of our own experience offers us power and knowledge over our choices, giving us the ability to move through life with intentionality and lay a foundation to face whatever comes next.
I received my doctorate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. My clinical focus has primarily been in outpatient and school settings. I have worked with clients from a diverse range of backgrounds dealing with a variety of concerns including anxiety and depression, mood disorders, identity exploration, life transitions, as well as those navigating past and present traumas. My work with children and adolescents has broadened my conception of "therapeutic." My experience has shown me that play, humor, and curiosity can be just as meaningful for a 5-year-old as an 85-year-old. I seek to utilize culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, gender-affirming, and systemic practices with my clients. I also personally identify as a member of the queer and neurodivergent communities.
