We rarely can overcome all of life’s challenges on our own, yet reaching out to others for help is often difficult. I recognize this fact as I seek to work collaboratively in helping you bring about the changes you want to see in your life. Therapy can be of enormous value in decreasing distress, more effectively managing emotions, better understanding the causes of your unhappiness, cultivating closer and more fulfilling relationships, overcoming patterns that repeatedly get in your way, and improving your capacity to build a happier and more meaningful life.
Each of us is unique and infinitely complex, and so I find that therapy never looks the same with any two people. I take a holistic approach focused on helping you better understand and manage emotions while gaining a deeper understanding of how you are impacted by current stressors, past history, social identities, and your goals and values. I engage actively, cooperatively, and supportively as we work together towards finding solutions to the challenges you face and fulfilling your goals.
My varied life experiences have fostered in me an attitude of genuine open-mindedness and acceptance around how others view and experience the world, and I work well with clients who fear judgment or are ambivalent about therapy. Clinical experience in outpatient, community mental health, and university counseling settings (including The University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and UIC) has given me a deep understanding of how to foster healing across a wide range of concerns, whether with individuals, couples, or groups. I look forward to talking with you about how we might work together to bring about the changes you want for yourself.
