I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a rich and meaningful life and therapy can be a powerful catalyst for change. I consider it a privilege to accompany others on their journey to well-being and strive to create an empowering and non-judgmental space that supports development. My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and I don’t hesitate to effectively and responsibly incorporate humor into the therapeutic process. As a multicultural and feminist psychologist, I am aware of the unique concerns of those with marginalized identities and welcome clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
As humans, we are remarkably gifted at constructing methods to avoid pain; however, vitality can also be found in times of suffering. I believe a significant part of my job is to sit with people as they confront the things that they have often spent so much time trying to avoid. Together, we will explore your unique strengths and how your relationship with yourself, others, emotions and experiences are impacting your current functioning. We can then utilize this increased insight to identify new patterns of relating and adaptive coping mechanisms.
I received my doctorate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and have specialized training in the treatment of identity-related concerns, relationship problems, trauma, and chronic health conditions. Additionally, my experiences providing individual, group and couples psychotherapy to undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Northwestern University represents my passion for working with college students and early career professionals. Connection and compatibility with your therapist is crucial to success and I encourage you to contact me to see if my approach is a good fit for your needs.
