I believe that we are defined by the relationships we engage in, whether that is to our family, community, or with ourselves. We are all experts in our own lives but as we face adversity, it can become easy to lose our sense of direction and feeling grounded in ourselves. This often leads to developing habits or ways of thinking that help us survive in the moment but limit our ability to thrive in the long term. I have a multicultural and relational lens in therapy, taking a non-shaming approach to make meaning of our lived experiences. A relational lens means that we will talk about what is happening in your life outside therapy and what is happening within the therapeutic relationship. The journey of being in therapy will not be linear, but it will always be collaborative!
I value developing authentic and trusting relationships and actively work to stay aware of what we each bring into the therapeutic space. My style is warm, direct, and takes a holistic lens on your well-being. This includes giving voice to the systemic and oppressive factors that may be impacting you and our dynamics in the room. I am passionate about working with young adults, BIPOC identified individuals, immigrants, and those carrying bicultural identities. I am also verbally fluent in Hindi and welcome individuals who may prefer therapy in Hindi.
My clinical experience varies across multiple settings, including in-patient hospitals, residential facility, and university counseling centers (such as Northeastern Illinois University, DePaul University, and Lake Forest College). I have experience working with a wide variety of concerns, including mood concerns, sexual trauma, complex/developmental trauma, identity development, and racial trauma. I have a passion for doing individual and group therapy work with adults and also individuals who are starting therapy for the first time. I look forward to sitting down together to see if we would be a good fit!
