It takes great courage to live out our authentic selves, find wisdom underneath our emotions, and repair and transform relationships that are close to heart. For those who are considering therapy, I admire your strength and humanity. I am always humbled by those who commit to therapy and sit in front of me, because they have completed the hardest part of the journey on their own so that the journey of healing and growth could begin.

I believe (and research shows) that, built upon a safe and trusting relationship, therapy can effectively support people to find clarity, authenticity, and resolution through the complexities and richness of our life journeys. I am trained in individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy. I provide psychotherapy in both English and Mandarin Chinese. My theoretical orientation is grounded in humanistic, feminist, and decolonization approaches, in which I support clients to process emotions, identify relationship patterns, and find one's agency within familial and sociopolitical systems. I also integrate psychodynamic, CBT, and mindfulness in my practice. With couples and families, I employ emotionally focused therapy and am active in offering feedback.

In my training background, I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Indiana University with a doctoral minor in Organizational Behavior and Business Management. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Counseling Center at University of Illinois at Chicago with a specialty rotation at the Marjorie Kovler Center working with refugees who have experienced political violence. I also received postdoctoral training in couple’s and family therapy at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Psychology Psy.D. program at Roosevelt University.
