My approach to therapy is informed by mindfulness based practices, focused on assisting my clients in “opening up” to the present moment while aligning with their values to strive toward their “Best Self!” In addition, I take a focused approach in assisting clients in attending to their relational concerns which allows for them to alleviate the emotional distress often associated with a history of difficult interpersonal patterns. Central to my approach in therapy, I find that it is my duty to establish a safe and warm space where my clients feel truly understood. Whether this involves being present with my clients during the really tough times in their life, or sharing in the joy/happiness/laughter that might arise over the course of our work together, I feel honored to be able to “BE” with my clients, in therapy.
I have worked in several university settings, hospital settings and community mental health centers. I have also worked within a Neuro-Psychological Outpatient Center focused on providing therapeutic services for clients diagnosed with traumatic brain injury and/or a history of substance abuse. Along with the areas of specialty noted below, I have found great value in working with clients who struggle with low self-worth and who find difficulty in engaging in self-compassion. In addition, I also have an interest in working with medical professionals, male identified populations and college students. If you are interested in learning more about my approach or would like to schedule a session, do not hesitate to reach out to me!
